Typhoon Kompasu Brings Hong Kong to a Halt

INTERNATIONAL: Typhoon Kompasu battered Hong Kong on Wednesday, as the stock market, schools and government services were all suspended. The Hong Kong Stock Exchange said the stock market will be closed for the entire day. The Education Bureau also said schooling would be suspended until further notice.

The city’s Hospital Authority says one man has died since the typhoon made landfall. At least 15 others have been injured.

Kompasu earlier caused landslides and flash flooding in the northern Philippines, claiming at at least 11 lives. 9 other people are still missing. The storm is expected to bring heavy rain to Cambodia over the next 48-72 hours.
